The Autonomous Artist
2017 -

Visual Artist Fellow on the Clore Leadership Programme

The Autonomous Artist started when I was awarded the Visual Artist fellowship on the Clore Leadership Project. Not strictly an artwork, rather an exploration of leadership practice as a part of creative practice. I used the fellowship to consider the role of practitioner in leadership, ways in which creative practitioners work which could influence leadership and how practitioners could feature more prominently in decision-making rooms. The autonomous artist blog explores the role of artists in arts leadership, and reflects on independent, self-determining and self-sufficient approaches to practice. Articles include working with Values, Failure - the precariat and universal basic income and capacity for decision making. My Clore Provocation paper Slow explores slow in relation to recruitment, participation, partnership and leadership.
